Royal Horticultural Society’s Photography Competition - 2021

The Gardens by the Bay, Singapore

Very pleased to have been received a 4th place & Highly Commended award in the Gardens category of this year’s RHS Photography Competition with this image of Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay - taken from the viewing deck of the Marina Bay Sands hotel in February 2020.

It was shortly after sunset when the lights of the 18 ‘Supertrees’ (tree-like structures that dominate the Gardens' landscape with heights that range between 25 and 50 metres) and the two cooled conservatories – the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest - as well as those of all the ships moored in Singapore Bay in the background - were turned on.

The judges commented that “This view of the futuristic-looking Gardens by the Bay development in Singapore at sunset is given even greater context and contrast by adjacent Marina Bay and the Singapore Strait, the busy shipping lane filled with vessels.”

An exhibition of all of the winning images will be online for the months to come and will be on display at all five RHS Gardens in September.
