Markets

Markets have always been one of my favourite places to explore, they can be found in almost every city and town I’ve visited. They really are the beating heart of a place. From grand indoor halls steeped in history to open-air stalls spilling onto lively streets, they offer a sensory experience that feels both authentic and unforgettable.

For me, they’re so much more than places to shop — they’re windows into daily life. The colours of fresh produce, the scent of spices in the air, the sound of traders calling out, and the craftsmanship on display all reveal something about the community. Each market has its own unique character, shaped by tradition, geography, and the people who bring it to life.

What I love most is the sheer variety. I’ve wandered past gleaming piles of exotic fruit, admired hand-woven fabrics, watched sizzling street food being cooked before my eyes, and even stumbled across antiques with stories etched into them. Everywhere I turn, there’s a moment worth pausing for — and often, worth photographing.
