Havana, Cuba

A week in Havana, Cuba with most of the time being spent in the city itself, particularly around Old Havana however there was also a day trip out to the Vinales valley, a 180km / 2 1/2 hour journey west of the city.

Cuba is an amazing place - it’s as though time has stood still for 60 years, indeed since the U.S. imposed a range of sanctions in 1963, eventually including a total ban on trade between the countries and a freeze on all Cuban-owned assets in the U.S.

Everyone is very friendly - and it’s a photographer’s paradise - however there is considerable poverty to be seen, both in the city and out in the countryside.
